About Mt. Vernon Public Library
The Mount Vernon Public Library was started as a community based library eleven years ago. The city decided to become part of the county library system in 2008. The library is housed in a 50 year old church and resides on public park property. This same location was once the home of another church that was a field hospital during the Civil War. Mount Vernon is one of the townships on the Trail of Tears as it went through on its way towards Conway, Arkansas. We strive to keep our heritage alive, our sense of community welcoming, and our library full of laughter and learning.
